Frequently Answered Questions
Q - How long does the Inman Shipping ‘Travel Plan by Inman’ Enrollment Form have to be in force before it becomes effective after someone enrolls.
A - Immediately upon completion of necessary information and payment processed.
Q - Just before going on a cruise, traveling overseas, or traveling across the U.S., is the benefit coverage effective immediately?
A - Yes, upon completion of necessary information and payment processed, confirmation # will be given.
Q - If a person moves to another state (be it their own home or a facility), and this new residence becomes their legal residence immediately upon move in, is the Travel Plan still in-force during the move period as well as immediately upon arrival into the new legal residence?
A – Yes, the travel coverage follows them; change of address notification needs to be completed.
Q – Legal residence and 180 days is in the Inman Travel plan information. What does it mean?
A – After a move, legal residence is in-force 180 days after the move, regardless of whether you changed the address or not, so if you travel, be sure it’s over 100 miles from that address you moved into 6 months ago, not the old address.
Q – How long before a death does someone need to enroll for the benefit to become effective?
A – Benefit coverage is only effective (in-force) if the person signed up “pre-need”. There is no coverage to consumers if “at need” (dies without coverage) or for “medical tourism” (illness and goes to a hospital out of state).
Q – There is no place for e-signature or date or time on-line. Why?
A – Consumers are not allowed “legally” to sign up for coverage. They must go through a broker/certified and/or licensed agent and is considered for “pre-need” planning; “at need” is handled by funeral directors.
Q – Are there any other possible additional costs that one can incur outside of this plan besides the actual funeral or cremation?
A – Yes, such as additional copies of death certificates, embalming, flowers, blankets, obituaries and/or personal requests
Q – How does the cost of transporting a decedent differ from the cost of an airline seat?
A – The weight of human remains is heavier, the container is larger, labor is needed for lifting and moving, and the container is only allowed in the cargo hold, so coverage usually is more expensive. The Travel Plan is cost effective.
